Be Still My Soul

Happy Easter! He is Risen!

This week was very special.

Morning assembly was dedicated to remembrance of the week leading up to Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. As one would expect, the week of Palm Sunday to Easter was etched into the minds of his disciples, so the Gospels are not without much to dwell on this week, and passages of this final week were our focus. We also enjoyed learning “Be Still My Soul”, a favorite hymn of Eric Liddel and Joni Earekson Tada, and a beautiful reminder to the Christian of God’s faithfulness through all of life.

We also had our “pre-visit” from Tom Spencer, a representative from the Association of Classical Christian Schools (ACCS), of which we are a part, as we pursue accreditation. Over the next year we have the advantage of focusing on areas that he has identified most important for us to improve as we become a fully accredited classical Christian school. This is an exciting season for Knox Academy!

We also signed a long-term lease for our future location in downtown Medford. If you have not yet had the chance, please swing by this weekend to check it out, preferably between 10am and 1pm on Saturday to get your car washed (see the advertisement above!).

And lastly, this week was our first ever Shakespeare Chapel at which we had the pleasure of enjoying several passages from Shakespeare plays memorized and delivered by the Speech and Debate class. This event gave me the opportunity to dwell on the significance of the stories that comprise Western Civilization. Shakespeare did not invent his own stories like fiction from the void. He used his expertise to build upon a tradition of familiar stories and continue the ongoing conversations about humanity that had been brewing since classical times.

We are blessed to be part of that tradition. As you have opportunity, please join the conversation! We are standing on the shoulders of giants, as they say, not the least of which is our risen Savior Jesus Christ. Happy Easter to you all.

 Sincerely,

Ben
